Your afternoon selection.. Group 1 or Group 2.. must be made when purchasing your ticket.

Here is your beautifully organized guide to A Day in the Country.

🧵 Itinerary: Group 1

Best for: Textile lovers who want a hands-on crafting experience and want to see the literal roots of mezcal out in the fields.

  • 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM | Josefina’s Zapotec Weaving Workshop (Teotitlán del Valle)
    • A hands-on experience where you'll use plants and flowers to create a personalized piece of agave fiber clothing.
    • You'll also see demonstrations on natural dye preparation and traditional loom weaving passed down through generations. See More

  • 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM | Mezcal Sigiloso (Santiago Matatlán)
    • Visit the "capital of mezcal." You'll ride out into the agave fields to see the plants firsthand.
    • Witness traditional production: horse-drawn grinding, wooden barrel fermentation, and copper/clay pot distilling.
    • Includes a comprehensive tasting and hearty botanas (snacks) before heading back. See More

⚱️ Itinerary: Group 2

Best for: History buffs fascinated by pottery and those looking for a deep-dive into a rare, woman-owned, hyper-traditional mezcal process.

  • 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM | Doña Rosa Black Pottery (San Bartolo Coyotepec)
    • Discover the secrets of barro negro (black pottery), famous for its deep metallic shine achieved entirely without glaze or paint.
    • You'll visit the workshop of the legendary Doña Rosa (who perfected the craft in the 1950s) and watch local artisans work up close. See More

  • 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM | Mezcaleria Rambhá (Santa Catarina Minas)
    • A unique, woman-owned and led palenque run by Maestro Mezcalera Rosario.
    • Perfect if you want to see a deeply ancestral, small-batch, handcrafted process.
    • Includes a tasting of 8 different small-batch mezcals
    • paired with fortifying botanas (snacks).  See more

💡 Quick Tip: If you can't decide, ask yourself if you'd rather take home a self-made botanical clothing piece (Group 1) or purchase some world-famous unglazed black pottery (Group 2)!
